Photos of Park Island

Here are a bunch of photos from Park Island. They are taken with a i-phone camera, but seem to come up OK.

Main town area near the ferry terminal of Park Island. You can see the nice trees and clean open space.

Beauty Salon on Park Island (there are numerous spas, salons, etc, including one very high-end spa managed by the Banyon Tree hotel group).

Local 7/11 and Park and Shop. The Park and Shop is excellent by the way. Its huge, and also has fresh live seafood delivered for sale each day.

A view of the "local villiage" on Ma Wan. This is the part of Ma Wan which is not part of the Park Island development, but its on the same island. It was built for the local people who lived on the island before it was developed, and is an excellent place for local seafood restaurants and dim sum.

This a photo of the entrance to the Noah's Ark theme park which is also on Wa Wan. It employs some of the local residents, and also brings regular tourists.

And finally a photo of the inside of the ferry that regularly travels between Central Hong Kong Island and Ma Wan. (You can also travel to Ma Wan by taxi or MTR/bus).

  1. I am from Singapore and just came across your blog of Park Island. How are the prices there now? It looks very nice and I think quite nice to live there whereas in many parts of Hong Kong it is simply too crowded and dirty.

  2. Ola! I am another Singaporean here. May i know will this part of HK be very much affected by typhoon. I work in Central so most likely if I am going to stay in Park, i would have to take ferry.

The ferrys run until a typhoon signal 8 is hoisted, after which they will cease to operate after 2 hours. But busses and taxis continue to run, so your transport options are fine.

If you work in Central, then a ferry from Park Island is an excellent way to get to work. It is peaceful, you are guranteed a seat, you can do eamils on the way if you wish, and you always know when the boats are going to leave (every 15 mins during peak times), so you never need to be caught out by trying to find a taxi, or at a bus stop wondering if/when a bus will arrive. I usually get the ferry both to and from central, but ocasionally I will catch a taxi back, which takes 15 minutes for the trip back to Park Island from Central.

Yes, I think if you are from Singapore you will definately like it at Park Island. To me, prices seem quite reasonable. Sell you place in Singapore and get on over here!

  7. Argg - they build a beautiful place, nice apartments with views beaches and gardend and then... they build a huge Noahs Arc on the beach. What on earth were they thinking building that Arc?

  8. I live in park island and love it here. Great development, nice build quality, good facilities. Really good place to live......

But, must take issue with your review of Park and shop. This supermarket is the worst thing about Park Island. "Fresh food" rarely available (unless you could mouldy vegetables or week old fruit). Meat (apart from pork) is very hit and miss as to whether they have any, let alone the quality. Seafood - terrible (and no wet market on Ma Wan means a trek to Tsuen wan or Tsing Yi)
Park and shop is always busy (never have more than 3 checkouts open) and they dont like to deliver, choosing odd times and making it awkward - this is a problem on an island with no cars!)

Worst of all, as the only real option (two 7 eleven and 1 small shop in village) for grocery, P n S have a "monopoly" and everything is overpriced - compare prices in PnS park Is with any other PnS: central, mid levels, kennedy town - even Disco bay is cheaper ffs!

  9. great to see all the sharings. May I know the taxi fare from Causeway Bay to Park Island? will supermarkets deliver to the flat if ordering up to say HkD 400?

  10. Irene yes the supermarkets on Park Island do do delivery to your door. But everyone lives very close and its all flat and open so very easy also to take your own purchased with you.
