Below are some new photos of the old Chinese village on Ma Wan. To get there, head towards the Noah's Arc main entrance. Near the man-made "nature park", you will see a path. This leads down to the village, so follow that down.  I already did a previous post about the Ma Wan old village here: http://parkislandhongkong.blogspot.com/2011/03/old-village-on-ma-wan.html Below are some photos of the old village on Ma Wan I took on a recent hike, this time with a better camera. This Ma Wan village house must have looked nice in its prime! Banana trees on Ma Wan Ma Wan Old Village Are you wondering what on earth that strange white building in the backround is? That is the new Solar Tower being built on Ma Wan. It will apparently be used as Hong Kong's leading astronomy observation center. A request to the Hong Kong Transport Department

Dear Hong Kong Transport Department - please take steps to slow the speed of the buses on Park Island on the road that runs between the Park Island village and the Kei Wai Primary School. I suggest you install speed humps, or a pedestrian crossing with traffic lights between the school and the Ma Wan village. I am putting you on advance notice of this risk and request here on my blog Living on Park Island, Ma Wan, Hong Kong http://parkislandhongkong.blogspot.com/ PLEASE TAKE THESE SUGGESTED STEPS. IF NOT, SOONER OR LATER, I PREDICT SOMEONE, PROBABLY A CHILD, WILL DIE OR BE SEVERELY INJURED AS A RESULT OF BEING HIT BY A BUS. Hong Kong Transport Department - feel free to post your response here or email me at parkislandproperty@gmail.com . I will also be sending this message directly to the HK transport department at their email address tdenq@td.gov.hk  provided on their website http://www.td.gov.hk/en/home/index.html .

A photo of Park Island

Park Island In this photo of Ma Wan you can see the main apartment complex development on Park Island. The smaller houses are part of the village, and the tall buildings are the modern apartment buildings. As you can see, the views from the apartment buildings is fantastic. You can also see the ferry terminal and the bridges that connect Park Island to Hong Kong.
