Today's post is not about property prices on Park Island...

The sun sets over the ocean at Ma Wan
Let's move away, for a moment, from the on-going focus on rising property prices in Hong Kong.

I'm not going to claim credit for this photo. It was sent to me by a Park Island blog reader. But I love the photo, and it captures so well the peaceful feeling you get if you have an apartment facing in this direction on Park Island as the sun sets, perhaps with a beer or a cigar in your hand, sitting on the balcony unwinding a little after a hard day in "the city".

  1. Beautiful sunset. I am sure that because of Park Island being a smallish island, the apartment orientation would enable choices of different directions. The North direction in the photo has views of Tsing Lung Tau on the right while also capturing the fish farm in the foreground. The other choices (other direction) would be the reknown bridges of Ting Kau and Tsing Ma with its lights at night. Spoilt for choices.

  2. Amen, the view from the island are pretty sweet. We are renters here from oz and moved straight to park island on arrival, bypassing the usual Mid Levels first, then somewhere quieter track.

I can reccomend park island to anyone coming to Hong Kong looking for a good value place to live with family. We are almost ready to buy aswell and are sorting out funds but actively looking to buy in the next few months.

  3. Prices on PI continue to rise. A friend of mine who has been in the market for a long time reckons both DB and Park Island will reach $10,000 per square foot by the middle of next year.

  6. Sandra, some places are already well above 10000 psf if you are talking about the penthouses or luxury apartments. The standard apartments are around 8000 psf but I think yes they are headed towards 10K.

  7. that's the view I get and it really is amazing. And everyone who comes over to my place just wants to sit on the balcony and watch the sunset over the water.

  8. Just wonderful, and it has the local character of a fishing village too.

  9. From a Feng Shui's perspective, it is like water (money) flowing to your doorstep. Priceless!

  10. Reports noted no transactions in major mass housing estate after the government's new anti speculation measures. However report also said that Park Island saw a transaction done at the weekend with the seller reducing the price by a whisker. A sign of firmness of value and attractiveness of Park Island properties?

  11. hello
Most of us living in pi or village share some common interest. It is not always best to publish some info on blogs. Can we try and setup some gathering in real life ? Anyone interested ? How to contact the owner of this blog ? i saw no email nor phone.

    Cheers

  12. roy not obvious
if you rent you must pay for years and years before prices go down for you to buy back
my view is the price of our style of flats may not obviously go down. The hk gov does not care about property price and wont do much. they may do something for only smaller units of less quality so more people have a roof.
