Tsing Ma Bridge -The Bridge with Longest Span in Hong Kong

The iconic Tsing Ma Bridge, which can be viewed from Park Island, Ma Wan, is the longest bridge ever built in Hong Kong. 

The Bridge has a centre span of 1,377 meters and crosses the marine channel between Ma Wan and Tsing Yi. The main cables supporting the Bridge were made up of some 27,000 tonnes of steel wires. The total length of these wires is sufficient to stretch round the world 4 times.

The Tsing Ma Bridge forms a major part of the essential link in the expressway and airport railway connecting the Hong Kong International Airport at Chek Lap Kok. 

On Tsing Yi, the Bridge links directly to an interchange with connections to the urban districts and, via the Ting Kau Bridge, to the Northwest New Territories.

On Ma Wan, high level viaducts extend from the Ma Wan end of the Bridge and cross the island to connect directly with the Kap Shiu Mun Bridge across the Kap Shui Mun channel.

Pool facilities on Park Island

My favorite pool on Park Island is the outdoor pool at the Blue Blue Club. Blue Blue Club Outdoor Pool Right now, as things warm up, one thing I enjoy is eating a meal overlooking the pool, and then having a relaxing swim, followed by relaxation the jacuzzie. I usually swim 2 to 3 times a week, and I find it a great form of exercise. One thing I really like about Park Island is that apart being surrounded by ocean (where you can swim if you wish) there are a large number of resort-style pools to chose from on the island. The Blue Blue club has the outdoor pool (pictured above) and an excellent Olympic style indoor pool (pictured below), also with 3 jacuzzie (one large mixed-sex one, and then one each in the mens and ladies rooms, along with steam saunas, dry saunas, etc). When will private cars be allowed on Park Island?

As promised, here is an update on the discussions I have had with the Hong Kong Planning Department and the Hong Kong Transport Department. First, below is the actual response I received in relation to submissions and inquiries related to allowing access and car parking for private cars for Park Island residents.  This office has consulted Transport Department on your proposal. T his email serves as a coordinated reply by Planning Department and Transport Department. The construction of the Airport Core Projects had impacts on the planning for Ma Wan. The Hong Kong International Airport at Chek Lap Kok is about 12km to the west. The Lantau Link, which is the major transport link between Lantau and the urban area, passes over Ma Wan. Green Green Club on Park Island

Park Island has a number of club houses across the Estate. All residents can use any of the club facilities. Normally I hang out at the Blue Blue club, as I like the outdoor pool with the infinity effect overlooking the ocean, but I recently went to the Green Green club for a change, and took a look around. Here are my pics, in no particular order: -The club house has lots of activities for kids (and adults posted). Here is a snapshot of one of several pages of current activities. Park Island Activities for Residents Childrens' activities on Park Island -The Green Green club has a number of insulated music rooms, some with pianos and others empty. This is a GREAT idea for people (and children) who wish to practice music without disturbing neighbours. Its also a good idea for anyone who likes to play the piano, but does not want one taking up space in their apartment!
