Useful Park Island Websites

I was recently sent a request to provide some useful websites for people moving to Hong Kong. Here are my suggestions:

For ex-pats moving to Asia, or expats moving to Hong Kong, I reccomend: www.AsiaExpat.com and Asia classifieds site www.Admart.Asia .

GeoExpat.com is also quite useful. These sites contain classifieds and also a chat forum.

For property information on Park Island for rent or for sale, try:
www.centadata.com/pih09/pih09/estate.aspx?type=3&code=WDPPWPPEPB&lang=eng&source=data or www.admart.asia/en/HK/Property.

For a bank loan to buy property on Park Island try www.HSBC.com.hk or www.whbhk.com

For Hong Kong news in English try www.SCMP.com

For Hong Kong weather try www.weather.gov.hk

For a spa on Park Island try www.spa-parkislandhk@angsana.com

For Park Island restaurant reviews try www.openrice.com/english/restaurant/sr1.htm?district_id=3022

For blogs on Park Island try:
www.hktour.blogspot.com/2008/10/park-island-ma-wan-island.html www.themepark10.blogspot.com/2010/10/theme-park-ma-wan-park-noahs-ark.html www.patnotebook.blogspot.com/2009/03/tsing-ma-bridge-photos-and-how-to-get.html www.whispalms.blogspot.com/2010/03/ma-wan-park-island-hong-kong.html
and of course my Park Island blog at www.parkislandhongkong.blogspot.com

  1. Hi, thank you for your useful blog. I've just arrived there and really appreciate your info.
However, do you know if it is possible to hike on the island, or maybe you could recommend me where to go around to enjoy hiking?

    thank you much!
    cheers

  2. Hi Albane.

Well for anyone new to Park Island, you can spend a day or so just wandering around the island and exploring. If you are a bit more adventerous, go and check out the old village. For a longer hike, go along the main beach, past the Noah's Arch, under the Tsing Ma bridge, and then over to the other side. You will find a totally isolated beach with spectacular views! As for hiking in general in HK, there are many many real hikes you can do up and down mountains. My favorate areas for that are the New Territiories, Sai Kung, and Lamma Island.

  3. Geoexpat is also worth looking at for expats coming to Hong Kong.
