Our future Park Island MTR Station
The Government is seeking views on future MTR stations for Hong Kong here: Our Future MTR Lines
If you support an MTR station for Ma Wan, Park Island, please send an email expressing your views here:
enquiry@ourfuturerailway.hk
Every email, comment, phone call etc from a Hong Kong resident supporting this will help. It takes just five minutes, so please do take the time to express your support for this, and please forward this to others and encourage them to respond.
An MTR station might also be a compromise between those who want private car access to Park Island and those who prefer a focus on enhancement of public transport options.

Why not create a standard email for people copy and paste? People is lazy...
ReplyDeleteI don't want a MTR station in Ma Wan as I like it's current peaceful and few people around. And don't forget the pollution might created during build up.
ReplyDeletewould you please make a post for the recent change / suggestion on the Park Island transportation for discussion ? thank you. I noticed there is a new post from Park Island Owner Committee about the transportation tonight.
ReplyDeleteThere seems to be a conspiracy going re: allowing taxis further access. Signatures collected voted against greater access. There was a small group of campaigners that set up a booth to gather signatures to boost chances of allowing greater access. It is alledged that these people (campaigners)are influenced if not connected to PICTL who is worried that their busses or ferries will be less favoured if taxis are given greater freedom. I looked at the signing sheets at my block and at another block and they were full of signature FOR greater taxi access. The campaigners did the work of PICTL to the detriment of residents - if residents feel ill and wanted taxi to stop nearest to their block, they would have been prevented. Ditto if residents have lots of shopping or residents who have difficulties walking long distances. The campaigners worry about pollution - but they cold not answer just how bad extra pooution is caused by say an extra 50-80 taxis a day. Their argument is flimsy and biased in favour of PICTL. They represent PICTL. As a resident I would like to see better transport facilities.
ReplyDeleteThat argument is silly. There wouldn't be any more taxis then than there is now. How many taxis do you see at the roundabout every day? maybe 20. not even close to 80. The pollution argument is ridiculous. So the 200,000 cars a day on Tsing Ma bridge, the 500 buses a day on PI and the 200 massive container ships a day sailing around Ma Wan don't create any pollution, but the 20 cabs will be a HUGE pollution factor indeed!
ReplyDeleteI was in favor of taxis extension.
MTR in Ma Wan? This doesn't make any sens. Who's gonna pay for it? Ma Wan should have more ferries. Smaller than current ones, but more modern, light and eco-friendly and more connections with places like Tung Chung or Tuen Mun.
ReplyDeleteBlaise
If you enjoy living in Ma Wan, then you should understand that bringing MTR here will totally ruin this place:
ReplyDelete1) Rental is going to sky rocket once it will be pinned on the MTR map, so no more enjoyment of still reasonable prices. Its gonna become ridiculously overpriced just like the rest of HK (thats what happened to even less attractive Kennedy Town 2 years even before MTR was built)
2) Thats not even mentioning the fact that about 35% people in this city still don't know about this place at all and still sometimes it feels a little crowded. Imagine what happens when it will become actually overcrowded.
3) oh yeah don't forget about the fact that many still consider it a hassle to actually taking the bus from Tsing Yi or don't know there is a ferry service and its still pretty busy with all the tourists on the weekends. Once there is an MTR - everyone will want to come. So more people and more queues
4) as mentioned above pollution will come with that too...
And honestly for what? 5 minutes less travel time? come on! not worth the money at all...Perhaps more ferries to central during day time and weekends would help but other than that... no sense at all
