A morning hike around Ma Wan

I am usually up around 5.30am, take a quick glance at the US and Europe financial news, and then do a morning hike before getting back to prepare for the Asian markets to open.

These photos are on Ma Wan, on the other side of where Park Island is. Go check it out. Hopefully the Government will not concrete the path over "to make it safer" like that have done on the Peak on Hong Kong island. Having said that, I suspect, eventually, that this land will be developed. Would be great if it just stayed the way it is, but this is HK and any land with views like this tends to get developed evnetually!

This morning, on the way back, I treated myself to a hot chocolate from Pacific Coffee in the Piazza, which is now all decorated and with Christmas songs playing.

  2. I am new here and love it so far. Today I walked around the old village with my wife and found it much nicer that the new one. It is sad they're going to demolish it. Anyway, how do you access the trail on your pics from the old village?
    Thanks

Milou - I am not sure they will demolish it, but I think some development will happen. The views are simply too good!

To access this trail, walk along the main Park Island beach towards the Noah's Ark. Keep walking among park the Ark, and you will see you can walk along-side and then eventually under the bridge. Once you are under the bridge, follow the side along the ocean around and you will see a fence, with a hole made in it on your right. Go through the hole, and you will see a natural path. Take that, and go exploring from there! It feels a bit scary or naughty, as nothing is sign-posted, but its entirely fine and safe to do. I occasionally see local fishermen walking the trail, but have never so far seen a gwailo!

  4. This is one of HK's best kept secrets. We did kind of this walk, but backwards from the old village. Really enjoyed it

  5. Excellent pics. I have been living in Park Island for 6 years and wondered where the route was. Porbably detered by the fence and not noticing a hole for accessing the trail.
